ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- With another successful cross country season in the books, the stage is now set for another winter of action inside the world-class University of Michigan Indoor Track Building in January and February of 2020.
A scored rivalry triangular meet between Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State is the centerpiece of a four-meet home schedule for the 2020 indoor track and field season, the third within the confines of the program's state-of-the-art facility.
The Wolverines will tangle with the Spartans and Buckeyes at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18, starting at 11 a.m. in what will be the only team-scored competition of the 2020 regular season for each school.
These three teams last met in scored regular-season competition in the 2018 edition of this meet, with Michigan taking the men's title and Ohio State claiming the women's contest.
One week prior on Saturday, Jan. 11, Michigan will open its 2020 campaign with the Wolverine Invitational at 11 a.m. Expected to run, jump and throw in opposition to the Wolverines are Michigan State, Miami (Fla.), Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Grand Valley State, Guelph and Western Ontario.
Equally prominent on the Wolverines' schedule to the rivalry triangular is the two-day Power Five Invitational, set for Friday and Saturday, Jan. 31-Feb. 1. In what is one of the higher-profile meets nationally, the meet will draw in Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Wisconsin to compete against the Wolverines.
All teams in the meet are from one of the "Power Five" conferences: Atlantic Coast, Big 12, Big Ten, Pacific-12 and Southeastern.
The season will conclude with an open competition on Friday, Feb. 21, at the Silverston Invitational. The meet will mark one final tuneup opportunity ahead of the following weekend's Big Ten Conference Indoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio. Among the teams expected to compete alongside Michigan are Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Tiffin.
