
Michigan to Make Swing Through Texas

» Michigan is out to snap a three-match skid, heading to Texas to take on Baylor and No. 14 Texas for a pair of weekend matches.
» The Wolverines are in the midst of playing 11 straight matches away from Ann Arbor. After this weekend, U-M has three matches remaining on the road before returning to the Varsity Tennis Center.
» This weekend marks the end of non-conference action for the Maize and Blue, who will kick off Big Ten play next weekend.

The University of Michigan women's tennis team (4-6) continues its time on the road, heading to the Lone Star State for a pair of matches. U-M will play at Baylor (5-6) on Friday (March 9) and wrap up the weekend at No. 14 Texas (8-4) on Sunday (March 11).
WOLVERINE BITES
• Michigan is out to snap a three-match skid and will wrap up its non-conference portion of the schedule with a pair of matches in Texas. U-M will play at Baylor on Friday (March 9) and conclude the weekend at Texas on Sunday (March 11).
• It is the second time in the last three seasons that Michigan has made this jaunt through Texas. The Wolverines knocked off Baylor, 4-2, before falling to Texas, 4-3, during the 2015-16 season. U-M is 5-2 all-time against Texas, while sporting a 4-1 mark against Baylor.
• Michigan is looking to play outdoors again this weekend, with the weather in Texas to be in the 70s. U-M played its first outdoor match of the season this past weekend against UCF at the USTA National Campus (March 3).
• In the latest ITA team rankings, Michigan comes in at No. 37. Through 10 matches, Michigan has already faced No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Duke, No. 5 Georgia Tech, No. 15 Kansas, No. 18 Auburn and No. 24 Virginia. Remaining opponents on Michigan's schedule are No. 6 Illinois, No. 8 Northwestern, No. 14 Texas and No. 19 Ohio State.
• Junior Kate Fahey has continued to shine at the top of Michigan's singles lineup, featuring a 7-0 mark at the No. 1 spot. She has won 10 straight matches to improve her overall singles mark to 16-5. She has not lost since the calendar flipped to 2018. Fahey has 83 career singles wins, putting her 15th all-time at Michigan. Her .805 winning percentage is tops at U-M as well as the only Wolverine to win at least 80 percent of their singles matches.

• In this week's (March 6) new singles rankings, Kate Fahey comes in at No. 21 and Chiara Lommer is at No. 81. The doubles pair of Brienne Minor and Mira Ruder-Hook is in the doubles rankings for the second straight week, earning a No. 42 ranking. Minor and Ruder-Hook are 4-1 on the season and have seen time at No. 2 and winning their last four matches.
• Michigan is in the midst of playing 11 consecutive matches away from the Varsity Tennis Center. This weekend's matches are No. 7 and No. 8 of that stretch. Michigan is in search of its first true road win of the season.
NCAA RULES
Each team match will be a contest for the best of seven team points. Doubles action will begin immediately with no warmup, so fans are encouraged to arrive on time for matches. In addition, each doubles match will be one set to six, with a tiebreaker occurring at 6-all. The team that wins two-of-three matches will secure the doubles point. Following a five-minute intermission, singles action will begin with each match worth one point towards the team score. There will be no-ad scoring in both singles and doubles action. In addition, there is to be no noise made between first and second serves this season as part of new ITA sportsmanship guidelines.
