WACO, Texas -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team lost the doubles point and the first three singles matches off court and fell, 4-0, to Baylor on Friday evening (March 9) at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Baylor jumped out to the early 1-0 lead by virtue of the doubles point, winning 6-0 at Nos. 2 and 3.
The Bears quickly extended their lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5. With the momentum, Baylor won in straight sets at No. 6 and No. 2 to clinch the 4-0 win.
Junior Kate Fahey was up a set and on serve in the second set, with classmate Brienne Minor in a second-set tiebreaker with the first in hand when the team match was abandoned. Freshman Alyvia Jones was in the third set at the completion of the match.
Michigan completes weekend play on Sunday (March 11), heading to Austin, Texas to take on Texas at 11:30 a.m. CDT.
