ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's gymnastics program announced its 2019 schedule on Thursday (Nov. 1), featuring four regular-season home meets and an NCAA Regional as part of six meets in Crisler Center.
Fans will get their first look at the 2019 team on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. as a battle for Michigan will take place in Crisler Center when the Wolverines play host to an exhibition meet that will include Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan.
During the regular season the Wolverines will have four dual meets in Crisler Center. The first will be Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at 7 p.m. as U-M takes on in-state rival Michigan State. Michigan will have back-to-back home meets in February with Nebraska coming to Ann Arbor on Sunday, Feb. 3, and Iowa on Sunday, Feb. 10. Senior Day will take place on Saturday, March 9, when the Wolverines face Oklahoma.
Michigan also will be one of four NCAA Regional hosts (along with Georgia, LSU and Oregon) in the first year of the new format. In the updated format, regional/super-regional competition will occur over three days at the four sites. Two teams at each site will compete in a play-in on the first day. On the second day, eight teams will compete in two sessions of four, with the top two teams in each of those sessions advancing to the next day. On the final day, four teams will compete in one session, and the top two teams will advance to the NCAA Championships. At Crisler, the first round of the Ann Arbor regional will begin Thursday, April 4, at 3 p.m. On day two (Friday, April 5), second-round sessions will begin at 2 and 7 p.m., while the regional final will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 7 p.m.
U-M fans also will have a special opportunity to see the Wolverines in nearby Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday, Feb. 23, when they compete in the Elevate the Stage meet. This year's event will be the location of both Big Five meets to wrap up Big Ten Conference competition. Traditionally on campus sites, the meet shifted to Toledo for this season and will be held on podium. Michigan will be in the 7 p.m. session with Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio State and Rutgers.
New season tickets are on sale now starting at $25. Season ticket renewals also are available for purchase.
