ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team clinched the doubles point and won three singles matches en route to a 4-1 victory over Dayton in the second of its two matches Sunday (March 12) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Michigan clinched the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The duo of Myles Schalet and Runhao Hua teamed up on for a 6-2 victory at No. 1, while the combination of Davis Crocker and Tyler Gardiner picked up a 6-4 win at No. 3 to clinch the first point of the match.
Crocker earned the first singles point with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph in the No. 5 slot, while Schalet put the Maize and Blue on the brink of a team win at No. 2 (6-2, 6-3).
Dayton earned its lone point of the match with a No. 3 singles victory, but moments later Gabe Tishman secured Michigan's 21st straight win at the Varsity Tennis Center with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Michigan will kick off Big Ten play next weekend, traveling to Michigan State on Friday (March 17) for a 6 p.m. match.
