INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – The University of Michigan men's tennis team sent seniors Alex Knight and Runhao Hua to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships (Nov. 1-5) at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
After a first round loss to No. 24 Martin Redlicki of UCLA, 3-6, 4-6, Knight went on to win five consecutive matches en route to winning the consolation bracket. In the final matchup, the senior defeated Giovanni Oradini of Mississippi State, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles play, Knight and Hua fell in the opening round to Rodrigo Banzer and Leonardo Telles, 6-3, 2-6, 9-11. The duo went on to win two rounds in the consolation bracket before falling in the seminal round, 3-6, 4-6, to the University of Florida's Oliver Crawford and Chase Perez-Blanco.
Michigan has concluded its fall schedule and will resume play Jan. 20, 2018, when it travels to Seattle to kick off dual match play against the University of Washington.
