MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Junior Yirong Bi won a pair of distance events by big margins and Siobhán Haughey and Nikki Canale also added wins of their own to lead the No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team to wins over No. 17 Minnesota (225-128), No. 18 Wisconsin (235-118) and Penn State (284.5-68.5) on Saturday (Nov. 4) inside the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
"I told the team after, this is the most successful in-season dual meet that we've ever had," said head coach Mike Bottom. "Our mission was to race, learn how to race better and use that as motivation against some really good Big Ten competition. It was just fun to watch."
"Everybody will take away things they need to work on. We have video of every event and everyone will get a chance to look at those, talk to our coaching staff, set some goals and make some changes as we move forward."
After winning the 500-yard freestyle by more than a four-second margin yesterday, Bi was sharp again on Saturday. She started the morning with a six-second win in the 400-yard IM (4:15.44) and followed that up with a five-second win in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:45.44). Freshman Sierra Schmidt was close behind both times, taking second in the 400-yard IM (4:21.85) and third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:56.35).

The other winner was freshman Nikki Canale, who punctuated a great day in the diving well by beating four Minnesota divers to claim the three-meter title (292.55).
The other victory came in the 400-yard freestyle relay to end the meet courtesy of junior Catie DeLoof, Haughey, junior Taylor Garcia and senior Gabby DeLoof (3:19.62).
