WOLVERINE BITES
• The Wolverines boast their best Big Ten record since 2003 and sit fourth in the league table with 16 points. U-M remains alive in the race for the Big Ten regular-season crown. For the regular-season title, U-M needs to defeat Maryland on Sunday and have the Michigan State vs. Indiana match (3 p.m. on Sunday) result in a draw to capture the first Big Ten championship in program history.
• With the 2-0 victory over Ohio State on Oct. 21, U-M locked up a top-four seed in the Big Ten Tournament. U-M will host a to-be-determined opponent on Sunday (Nov. 5) at either 1 or 4 p.m. at U-M Soccer Stadium.
• A pair of Wolverines, freshman Mohammed Zakyi and sophomore Jack Hallahan, are tied for the team lead in points with 16, a number that ranks tied for fifth in the Big Ten. Zakyi leads the team in goals (six), while Hallahan paces the squad in helpers (six). In the 2-0 win over Ohio State (Oct. 21), Hallahan scored a goal and had an assist for the fourth time this season, while Zakyi's goal in the match gave him at least one point in six of the last seven matches.
• Michigan is No. 3 in the Big Ten in shots per match (14.47) and checks in at No. 2 in the league and No. 22 nationally in corner kicks (6.07/match). Additionally, U-M is 7-0-0 when scoring first and 5-0-0 when leading at halftime.
• The Wolverines have utilized 11 different starting lineup combinations due to various circumstances. Only two players, junior Robbie Mertz and freshman Marc Ybarra, have started all 15 matches, while key contributors in Zakyi, sophomore Abdou Samake and juniors Daniel Mukuna, Francis Atuahene and Ivo Cerda have all missed significant time due to injuries.
• Michigan has outscored teams 23-15 on the season, including a 9-4 margin in the first half. The program record for fewest goals allowed in a season (20) was set in 2015. The school record for fewest goals allowed in the first half of action is seven, which was set in the 2011 season.

• The Maize and Blue have played the No. 14 schedule in the country according to the NCAA strength of schedule rankings, highlighted by a 1-1 draw at then-No. 1 Indiana on Sept. 13. Past opposition has combined for a 111-72-23 record (.600).
• Against Detroit on Wednesday (Oct. 25), U-M will honor a trio of seniors in Billy Stevens, Tristan Jacob and Ali Jawad. Stevens has started all 67 matches he has played in his U-M career, while Jacob has been a revelation in 2017, playing in 15 matches this season in a key starter and reserve role after taking part in a combined 12 matches his first three seasons in Ann Arbor. Jawad was a three-year member of the team before transitioning into a student assistant role this season.
OPPONENT PREVIEWS
Scouting DetroitDetroit enters the matchup with a 6-5-3 overall mark and is 3-3-1 in Horizon League play. In terms of common opponents, the Titans have played a pair of Big Ten teams, falling 2-0 to Penn State on Sept. 20 in State College, Pennsylvania, and tying then-No. 16 Ohio State, 2-2, on Sept. 26 in Columbus. The Titans are 1-4-3 away from home.
The Titans are even on goals at 22-22 and at a shot advantage of 186-182 and are led by a duo who have combined for 16 goals, three assists and 35 points:Â Tyler Moorman, who leads the Horizon League in goals with nine, and Spiro Pliakos.
In goal, Robbie Beckwell owns a 6-4-2 overall mark to go along with four clean sheets. He has allowed 17 goals for a 1.35 goals-against average and has 47 saves coupled with a save percentage of 73.
Series vs. DetroitU-M owns a 10-1-3 overall mark in the all-time series, and is coming off a 2-0 win at U-M Soccer Stadium on Sept. 28, 2016.
Scouting Maryland
Prior to its hosting VCU tonight (Oct. 24) at 7 p.m., Maryland boasts a 10-2-3 overall record and is undefeated in Big Ten play (5-0-2), which is good for a tie atop the Big Ten standings with Indiana and Michigan State at 17 points.
The Terrapins are led in points by junior Eryk Williamson with 17, and his six goals pace the team in that category, while senior Jake Rozhansky is the team leader in assists (8). Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair has started all 15 of Maryland's matches and has compiled a 0.83 goals-against average, with a .768 save percentage and eight shutouts.
Series vs. Maryland
Maryland owns a 3-1-2 mark in the all-time series. Last season, U-M gave the Terps everything they could handle on two occasions, falling to Maryland, 3-2, in double overtime in the final match of the regular season on Oct. 30Â and in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals on Nov. 5 by an identical 3-2 double-overtime scoreline. The lone victory for the Wolverines in the all-time series came in the NCAA quarterfinals on Dec. 4, 2010, a victory that sent U-M to its first-ever NCAA College Cup.
