Thursday, Aug. 11 (Day Six)
Claudia Lau swam her second and final event in Rio, finishing 18th (2:10.94) in the preliminaries of the 200-meter backstroke on Thursday (Aug. 11). She was three-tenths of a second outside the top 16.

Monday, Aug. 8 (Day Three)
Sophomore Siobhán Haughey (Hong Kong) qualified for the semifinals of the 200-meter freestyle, tying U.S. Olympian and former medalist Missy Franklin for 13th place (1:57.56). She finished ninth in the morning's preliminaries (1:56.91), a time which, according to the South China Post's James Porteous, is a national record. Porteous also reported that Haughey is believed to be the first Hong Kong swimmer to qualify for a semifinal in 64 years. Haughey lowered her University of Michigan record in the event, down a second-and-a-half from the old time of 1:58.48.

Former women's swimmer and current Club Wolverine Elite trainee Claudia Lau (Hong Kong) swam the first of her two events in Rio, narrowly missing out on a spot in the semifinal with a 19th-place finish (1:01.27).
