
Michigan Returns to NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- On the heels of its first 20-win season since 2008, the No. 24-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will head to Wake Forest to face East Tennessee State in the first round, as announced by the NCAA on Tuesday (May 3).
With a win, Michigan could face No. 6 seed and host Wake Forest or Coastal Carolina with a spot in the final 16 at stake. The remainder of the NCAA Tournament will be held at the University of Tulsa, May 19-30.
The first and second rounds are slated to take place May 13-15 on campus sites.
Michigan is making its return to the NCAA Tournament after compiling a 20-7 record in head coach Adam Steinberg's second season, a year removed from winning just seven matches. The Wolverines went 8-3 in the Big Ten, finishing tied for third place and making a run to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament. U-M features two ranked singles players in No. 95 Jathan Malik and No. 123 Alex Knight, along with the No. 81-ranked doubles team of Knight and Runhao Hua.
