
Michigan Has Solid Showing in Big Ten/ACC Double Dual

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The seventh-ranked University of Michigan rowing team had another solid showing Saturday (April 2) in an ACC/Big Ten Double Dual against No. 4 Virginia, Clemson and Michigan State at Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River.
With Ohio State serving as host, the Wolverines competed in challenging conditions at the Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River, with temperatures in the low 40s and winds surpassing 20 miles per hour.
In the first morning session, Michigan competed against nationally-ranked Virginia and Michigan State for the second time this spring. The Wolverines placed second in all six races. Michigan's first varsity eight crew again finished just behind the Cavaliers' 1V8 crew, finishing in 6:26.8, just over three seconds behind UVA. The Wolverines' 2V8 (6:39.8), 1V4 (7:23.4), 2V4 (7:30.4), 1N8 (7:05.4), and 2N8 (7:25.4) followed with second place finishes in their races.
In the second morning session, with Michigan racing against Clemson and Michigan State, the Wolverines' first varsity eight crew won in 6:40.7. Michigan finished well ahead of Michigan State (6:45.9) and Clemson (6:54.90). U-M earned decisive open water race wins in the 2V8 (6:51.9), 1V4 (7:44.2), 2V4 (7:43.0), and 2N8 (7:43.0).
Michigan will continue its spring season next weekend in Camden, New Jersey, when the Wolverines take on Ohio State and Rutgers in a Big Ten Dual.
