The University of Michigan women's basketball team (13-10, 5-7 Big Ten) returns to Crisler Center for its penultimate home game on Thursday (Feb. 11), hosting Wisconsin (7-15, 3-9 Big Ten) at 7 p.m. For $5, fans can purchase a ticket, hot dog and drink as part of a Triple Threat deal. In addition, children 18 and under are free to weekday games.
• The Big Ten is home to some of the nation's best scorers and scoring teams. Sophomore Katelynn Flaherty is currently eighth nationally in scoring (22.7 ppg), with Minnesota's Rachel Banham (25.8 ppg) and Ohio State's Kelsey Mitchell (25.1) ranking third and fourth, respectively, as the Big Ten is one of only two conferences (Northeast Conference) to have multiple players in the top 10. Michigan comes in at No. 8 in the country in points per game (81.3), with Maryland (85.9) coming in third, Ohio State in fourth (85.7) and Minnesota sixth at 82.0.
• Freshman Boogie Brozoski has been making an impact in the last few games, bringing a change of speed to Michigan's offense. She made the first start of her career against Illinois (Feb. 7) and responded with six points, a career-high seven assists and no turnovers in 28 minutes of action. Brozoski scored 13 points on 4-for-8 shooting in 22 minutes at No. 17 Michigan State (Feb. 3) for her second double-figure scoring game in conference play. She is playing 16.6 minutes per game and is fourth on the team with 52 assists while scoring 6.6 points per game.
• Junior Siera Thompson and senior Madison Ristovski lead the Wolverines in assists this season, with Thompson handing out 116 and Ristovski at 79. Thompson is currently eighth all-time at U-M in career assists with 313, while Ristovski is six assists away from moving into the top 10 with 285. Thompson ranks 10th in active Big Ten players in assists, while Ristovski is tied for 13th. The Wolverines have 402 assists on the season, averaging 17.5 per game.
• Sophomore Katelynn Flaherty has reached double figures in all but one game this season. She has topped 30 points five times and has scored at least 20 points 15 times as one of six players in the Big Ten averaging 20 points per game. She is eighth nationally in scoring (22.7 ppg) and became the second sophomore in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark after scoring a career-best 36 against Illinois (Feb. 7). Michigan has only had five players in school history average at least 20 points over the course of a full season.
Flaherty's 521 points is already the second-best total for a sophomore in school history and sixth-best single-season total. Jennifer Smith set the single-season record for points during the 2003-04 season, scoring 659 points. Smith was also the last player to average at least 20 points per game, finishing that year with a 21.3 points per game average.
• Michigan has made 163 three-pointers this season on 39.6-percent shooting. Michigan's 39.6-percent clip from beyond the arc is the second-best mark in the Big Ten and the fifth best nationally. The Wolverines were 9-for-19 from three-point range (47.4 percent) against Illinois (Feb. 7). At Crisler Center, Michigan is shooting 40.5 percent from three and averaging 7.5 triples.
• Wisconsin (7-15, 3-9 Big Ten) snapped a seven-game losing streak on Monday (Feb. 8), knocking off Purdue, 64-57, at home. UW is led by a trio of double-figure scorers in Nicole Bauman (16.4 ppg), Dakota Whyte (12.5 ppg) and Michala Johnson (11.1 ppg). The Badgers are averaging 65.3 points per game on 41.3-percent shooting. Wisconsin leads the all-time series, 40-23, but Michigan has won five of the last seven games between the teams.
