Michigan's Win Streak Snapped at Notre Dame

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team saw its five-match winning streak come to an end in a 6-1 loss to Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 13) at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
Notre Dame took the doubles point, winning matches at No. 2 and No. 3. Michigan's top duo of junior/sophomore Alex Knight and sophomore Runhao Hua held a 5-2 advantage when the match was abandoned.
The Irish took five of the six first sets in singles action, with Knight taking a 6-2 victory in the first at No. 2.
Notre Dame extended its lead to 3-0 with singles wins at No. 3 and No. 1. At the same time, junior Kevin Wong and freshman Myles Schalet earned the second-set split to send their matches to third set, extending Michigan's chance at the team win.
The Irish took the next three matches off court at No. 5, No. 4 and No. 6 to clinch the match and extend their lead to 6-0.
Knight put Michigan's lone point on the board at No. 2, winning in a third-set tiebreaker, 7-3 .
Michigan returns home for a pair of matches next weekend, first hosting Michigan State on Friday (Feb. 19) at 6 p.m.
