Hayden Qualifies for Three-Meter Final at Winter Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Freshman Kristen Hayden of the No. 6-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team advanced to the three-meter springboard final on Monday (Dec. 19) at the 2016 USA Diving Winter National Championships, held at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The final will take place on Wednesday (Dec. 21) at 4:30 p.m.
After scoring 218.85 in the preliminaries, Hayden improved in the semifinals, scoring 243.10 to finish ninth overall (461.95). The top 12 divers out of the semifinals qualified for the final.
Also making the final were two other divers with Michigan ties. Last year's volunteer assistant, Gabby Han, who has been training at Canham Natatorium with Mike Hilde, finished 11th (458.20), while Nikki Canale, a signee in next year's recruiting class, finished 12th (450.60).
