Tonight's matchup marked the 151st all-time meeting between Michigan and Iowa. After tonight's loss, U-M leads the all-time series, 91-60, including a 51-23 mark in Ann Arbor.
The Maize and Blue falls to 13-10 on the season and 6-5 in Big Ten play.
The Maize and Blue turned the ball over just six times tonight, well below the team's average of 10 per game, the 10th-best average in the nation.
Iowa averages 22.8 trips to the free throw line per contest, making 16.9 attempts each game while holding its opponents to just 16.3 attempts per contest. The Wolverines held the Hawkeyes to 4-of-6 (66.7 percent) from the free throw line while going 9-of-11 (81.8 percent) from the stripe themselves.
Aubrey Dawkins led the way offensively for U-M, the second time he has led U-M in scoring this season. All 16 of his points came in the second half, including going 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. It marks Dawkins' highest offensive output since his 20-point outburst in the overtime win against Illinois.
The Wolverine youth movement played a big role in the game today, scoring 33 of Michigan's 54 points (61.1%). With Aubrey Dawkins leading the team in scoring, tonight marked the fourth game in which U-M had a true freshman as the high scorer.
The Michigan defense was stingy beyond the arc, holding Iowa to just four successful three-pointers, the fourth game this season that Michigan has allowed four or fewer three-point makes.
Zak Irvin has made a three-point field goal in every game this season. He leads U-M with 54 on the season.
Sophomore/freshman Mark Donnal saw his first game action since playing against Wisconsin (Jan. 24) after missing U-M's games with Nebraska (Jan. 27) and Michigan State (Jan. 31) due to illness.
