Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On his team's improved effort ... "I thought our team played harder. We played well. We wanted to get that first goal and wouldn't you know it, it ends up being the winning goal. Both teams were stingy. Both goalies played well. We've got to score a goal to win the game, and we couldn't score one."
On the team's scoring chances in the final minute ... "We had three or four good shots at it and whether they got blocked or hit the goalie. It was a close game. It could have gone in just as well, but it didn't."
On Steve Racine's performance in net ... "He gave us a chance. Your goalie comes in here and gives up one goal against a team like that, you're going to have a chance at winning. We just didn't get the goals that he needed. I'm happy with our game tonight. I didn't like the outcome, but I thought our team played much better. We gave ourselves a chance, but then we couldn't score. One thing we've been able to do is score goals, but we couldn't tonight, so give them credit."
On Minnesota's defensive performance ... "They played hard. They played the right way. We had about four 2-on-1s that we didn't capitalize on. You've got to put those chances in or score on your power play. We didn't score on our power plays, so give them credit."

On the tough weekend ... "They're a really good team obviously, especially in their rink. I don't know the last time we won here, but they're very good. We've got to be prepared for the next game."
On how the team needs to adjust offensively ... "We've got to keep shooting, keep throwing it at the net. We can't get frustrated. We've got to keep putting it net, and eventually if we do the right things, staying in our system, it's going to go in."
U-M Junior Goaltender Steve Racine
On his performance tonight ... "I was just seeing pucks well. We've been talking a lot about my preparation going into the games. I thought my preparation today was really good. I had a nice talk with Coach (Berenson) in the morning just to get me ready to go, and I felt really good coming into the game."
On the team's effort blocking shots ... "Those tight games like that you need to block shots or you're not going to have a chance. The guys did a really good job bearing down in our zone tonight. Unfortunately, it didn't show up on the scoreboard, but they did a good job."
