Tonight's matchup marked the 13th all-time meeting in the series between the Cornhuskers and Wolverines. U-M has won seven straight games in the series and holds an 11-2 all-time advantage over Nebraska. U-M is a perfect 6-0 in the series in games played in Ann Arbor.
The 44 points allowed by U-M tonight is a season low and is the fewest the Wolverines have given up in a Big Ten game since surrendering 41 points to Wisconsin on Jan. 8, 2011. The 18 points scored by the Cornhuskers in the first half are the fewest points allowed by U-M in a half this season. The previous low allowed was 19, against Bucknell (Nov. 17, 2014) and Eastern Michigan (Dec. 9, 2014).
Nebraska's Terran Petteway, the Big Ten's second-leading scorer at 19.6 points per game, was held off the scoresheet until the 15:01 of the second half. U-M held Petteway to seven points on 1-of-11 from the field. The last time Petteway was held to single figures was on Feb. 5, 2014, also against the Wolverines.
The 23 points scored by the Wolverines in the first half are the fewest points scored by U-M in any half of a win this season. The previous low scored was 24, against Rutgers (Jan. 22, 2015).
U-M assisted on 54.5 percent of its makes tonight (12-of-22). On the season, U-M has assisted on 49.7 percent of its made baskets (94-of-189).
Michigan shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe tonight. On the season, the Wolverines are shooting 74.8 percent (246-for-329) from the line, averaging 11.7 free throws made per game on 15.7 attempts.
Zak Irvin's 14 points and career-high 12 rebounds gave him the first Maize and Blue double-double since Jordan Morgan registered 15 points and 10 rebounds against Texas in the 2014 NCAA Tournament (March 22, 2014). Irvin also registered three assists, which ties a career high.
With three long-range baskets, Zak Irvin has made a three-pointer in every game this season (21 games). For his career, he has made at least one triple in 49 of 58 career games.
Max Bielfeldt scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and pulled down a career-high nine rebounds. Biefeldt is averaging 9.7 points and 7.3 rebounds over his last three games.
Aubrey Dawkins scored 13 points in the first half and finished 5-of-7 from the field, converting on all three of his triple attempts in a career-high 32 minutes of action.
Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman tied his career high with nine points in a career-best 37 minutes.
Spike Albrecht had six points and seven assists while only committing one turnover. Albrecht has a 2.95 assist-to-turnover ratio (68-to-23) on the season.
Andrew Dakich played a career-high eight minutes and recorded his first career steal.
Michigan guard Derrick Walton Jr. did not play in today's game due to his ongoing foot injury. Replacing Walton in the starting lineup was Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, who was joined by Spike Albrecht, Zak Irvin, Aubrey Dawkins and Ricky Doyle.
