Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On his team's good start ... "We knew they would push back after last night. I thought our team was focused and prepared. To score the first goal was huge and then another one right away in the first five minutes. That kind of set the tone. You don't want to give the home team a life. They've got a great crowd and a better team than their record. We got the goals we needed, and then after that we didn't give up much."
On getting many quality scoring chances ... "We're going to the net, and we're making good plays. This rink seems to favor us. Our guys were really comfortable here. We practiced for two days in Ann Arbor on an Olympic-sized rink just hoping that we wouldn't be out of sorts when we got here, but we weren't. After the first period last night we had five good periods.
On where this team ranks offensively among those he has coached in the past ... "Well we've got a long way to go. But right now in recent weeks, we've looked like the team we had in 1997. But we've got a long way to go. Right now it's good. It's good to see our guys get some confidence."
U-M Senior Forward Zach Hyman
On getting out to an early lead ... "It's huge. To get out to a 2-0 start in the first two minutes of the game, considering we were down 4-1 the night before is really big. I think that especially in a road game against a team like this to allow zero goals, it was good to do it."
On taking fewer penalties tonight ... "We're at our best when we're playing 5-on-5. Even though we have a good power play, we like to play 5-on-5 and play man-on-man against the other team."
On the team's morale ... "It's crazy when you're scoring as much as we're scoring right now. It's finally nice to see we put up a zero in the goals-against category. We haven't done that all year and just to give Zach (Nagelvoort) some confidence in net is huge. We're so confident on this team right. We're excited because we're on a roll right now."
U-M Freshman Defenseman Zach Werenski
On the improvement in the defensive zone ... "I just think we took more pride in it. We had a good start. Larkin's line had two goals on their first shift, which is always huge. We just kind of rolled with it. We took more pride in our defensive zone. We wanted to help (Nagelvoort) out and give him some confidence, and I think we did that tonight."
On if he's ever been on a team as good offensively ... "No, I can't say I have. It's pretty fun though. It's definitely fun every night."
