Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On his team's response after the early deficit ... "Obviously, we tried hard to bounce back. We didn't expect to get in an early hole like that. Whether it was our penalty killing or the five-minute major, give Wisconsin credit. They came out, and they played hard. I know the first period hasn't been their best period, but they had us on our backs. We were a desperate team, and I thought that the second goal was huge, the third goal was huge, Zach Hyman's goal was huge. We had to earn our goals and one by one we climbed back into the game. We were lucky. We shouldn't have been able to get back into that game, giving up a lead like that on the road against a team like that."
On what he told the team during the first intermission ... "We knew we had to stay out of the penalty box and play better. We needed the next goal. We needed to play the way we play, and we did. I'm still lamenting on the goals against, but we had to score some goals, and we found a way to do that. It was a good team effort on the bounce-back part of the game."
On the goaltending ... "It's a flip of the coin. You saw the last game we played we pulled our goalie too, late in the third period."
U-M Junior Forward Justin Selman
On scoring a hat trick ... "It's kind of shocking right now actually. It's really fun playing with those guys, and I took advantage of my opportunity, I guess."
On how they were able to wear Wisconsin down ... "I think down low, behind the net especially. Zach Hyman works really well down low, and he wore them down. In the third period, I didn't think they could keep up with us in the offensive zone."
On the slow start ... "I don't think we were ready to go at the start. Once they came out, they were taking it to us for the first couple of minutes. We had to wake up on the bench, and I think once we did that we were okay."
U-M Senior Forward Zach Hyman
On getting the win with six unanswered goals ..."It's exciting because not a lot of teams can do that. That's the sign of a good team. When your back is against the wall, down 4-1, you don't give up. We kept pushing, and we came back."
On if this is the best offensive team he's ever been on ... "Oh yeah. 100 percent. Putting up the goals that we're putting up, consistently right now, it's kind of crazy. Not a lot of teams can do that, and we've been doing it."
On his message to Justin Selman after his hat trick ... "I was happy for him. This is around the time of year, my junior year, when I started to pick it up. I just told him before the game that it's his time. He took advantage of it, and I'm happy for him."
