MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team on Saturday (March 22) competed in a quartet of events, highlighted by a season-best time in the 400-yard freestyle relay, at the NCAA Championships held inside the University Aquatic Center. U-M placed 30th with 23 points, while Georgia (498) took home the team title, with more than 100 points separating it from runner-up Stanford (362.5).

Michigan's relay raced to the second-fastest time in school history at 3:17.03, taking 17th place overall. The relay featured sophomores Zoe Mattingly (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) and Ali DeLoof (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South),freshman Julia Fiks Salem (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Domus Sapientaie) and senior Courtney Beidler (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South). It marked the final race as a Wolverine for senior captain Beidler, who is the reigning Big Ten champion in the 400-yard individual medley.

Senior captain Angela Chokran (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) also raced for the final time for the Maize and Blue. She finished 38th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.88.

Beidler and sophomore Marni Oldershaw (Oakville, Ontario/Iroquois Ridge) also competed in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing 36th (1:58.43) and 47th (1:59.43), respectively.

At the championships, Oldershaw earned an All-America citation with her eighth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. Five other Wolverines earned All-America honorable mentions: two for DeLoof (the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard medley relay) and one each for Chokran, Fiks Salem, Mattingly and freshman Madeline Frost (Saline, Mich./Saline).

Junior Carey Chen (Vancouver, British Columbia/University Hill Secondary) capped off her first berth to the championships with a 25th-place finish on platform diving.

U-M sent its largest to contingent to the championships in several years with five qualified swimmers, four relay alternates and one diver.
