• Michigan is now 2-4 in the all time series against Penn State. The Wolverines are now 5-3-2 against Big Ten opponents at Yost Ice Arena.
• For the fourth straight game, Michigan outshot its opponent, leading Penn State 40-28 in shots. Michigan is now 4-4 on the season when outshooting its opponent. The last time the Wolverines recorded 40 or more shots in three straight games was on Oct. 11-19, 2012.
• In 18 games against Guy Gadowsky coached teams, Michigan is 10-8 including a 2-4 record against the Nittany Lions. Gadowsky was the head coach at former CCHA Alaska-Fairbanks from 1999-2004 before moving on to become the head coach at Princeton.

• Junior forward Andrew Copp extended his point streak to four games with an assist on Downing's third-period goal.
• Sophomore forward Max Shuart scored his third goal of the season at 0:46 of the first period, marking the first time a Michigan player has scored in the opening minute of the game since Nov. 22, 2013, when Tyler Motte scored at 0:34 of a 6-0 win over Niagara. Shuart now has four points (3G, A) in his last four games.
• Junior forward Cristoval 'Boo' Nieves extended his point-scoring streak to four games with an assist on Shuart's first-period goal. Nieves has four points (G, 3A) in his last four games.
• Sophomore defenseman Kevin Lohan has points in three straight games after notching an assist on Max Shuart's first-period goal. Lohan has four points (G, 3A) in his last four games.
