Michigan now leads the all-time series against Boston College 12-6-0, including a perfect 5-0-0 mark at Yost Ice Arena.
Tonight marked the fifth time U-M has opened its season against a ranked team since 1995. Michigan is now 3-0-2 in those contests.
Sophomore forward Andrew Copp recorded career highs with two assists and three points. He had a hand in all three of U-M's goals.
Senior forward Luke Moffatt tied his career best with two goals, scoring one in the first period and his second of the night less than a minute into the final frame.
Freshman forward JT Compher tallied two assists as one of three Wolverines to record multiple points on opening night.
Sophomore goalie Steve Racine made the start between the pipes for U-M, turning aside 20-of-21 shots he faced.
Michigan outshot BC by a 32-21 margin.
The Wolverines were a perfect 2-for-2 on the penalty kill and 2-for-5 on the power play.
Michigan allowed BC to attempt just five shots on net in the third period and outshot the Eagles on the power play, 11-2.
Andrew Copp, Luke Moffatt and junior forward Zach Hyman paced the Wolverines with five shots apiece.
