Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On allowing a power-play goal ... "We knew exactly what happened, but they made it work. They got the goal they needed. We just had to stay out of the penalty box."
On Kevin Lynch's play overall ... "I thought he was really good and really bad for the weekend. There were times in the third period when I thought about not putting him out there. Then in overtime that line got caught in their own zone and got into trouble, and I thought I don't know if I can trust them in overtime. I know that Kevin (Lynch) has had a good record against Michigan State. I know he has had a good record at Joe Louis. They got one shift in overtime and bingo, so you never know."
On sticking with the Lynch line... "I trust that line, Travis Lynch, Kevin Lynch and Derek DeBlois, I trust that line in any situation. Tonight they didn't play as well as they did last night for one reason or another."
On Chris Brown's physicality towards Spartan defense ... "(Torey) Krug is a great player and he was dangerous tonight. I think (Chris) Brown had an impact on our team. He had a couple of scoring chances. I think he helped that line have a better game."
U-M Junior Forward A.J. Treais
On the key to winning the game ... "Yesterday we lost our focus; took way too many penalties. We gave them a power play there in the third; that was a scare. But you just got to bear down and focus, and keep playing your game."
On the importance of coming away with three points this weekend ... "It's huge. We were looking for six, but there's nothing we can do about that Friday game now. Getting that three points tonight is huge."
On Kevin Lynch in this series ... "He's just working hard. He's just playing his game. Sometimes he tries to do a little too much, but I think he just played hard, he's working hard in the corners, and he got rewarded there in the end."
U-M Junior Forward Kevin Lynch
On scoring the overtime goal ... "It was great. I was having kind of a tough game. I cut my finger open during warm-up, so I was battling through that a little bit. The goal made it a little bit better."
On why he thinks he's had such success vs. MSU this season ... "I don't know. It's a huge rivalry and everyone in the room gets up for that. I've been kind of fortunate to get points when we play them, but it's that rivalry that just gets me going."
On whether or not he felt the team pressed it in overtime because of shootout record ... "Obviously, we're not the best shootout team this season but we're working on it every day in practice. Maybe we're working that much harder in overtime so it doesn't come down to the shootout, but we're working on it and we're going to get better."
