Michigan and Western Michigan played the 105th game of the series between the two CCHA squads. The Wolverines hold a 67-28-10 advantage over the Broncos.
The Maize and Blue has now lost the last two matchups against Western Michigan, with the previous loss coming in the CCHA tournament semifinal at Joe Louis Arena. U-M has won 22 of the past 27 matchups.
With the loss, the Wolverines are 1-2-0 in game one of a CCHA weekend series.

Michigan's penalty kill was perfect, not allowing Western Michigan to score during six power-play opportunities. The Wolverines improved their penalty kill percentage to 82.2 percent (37-of-45).
Prior to tonight's defeat, U-M had won 20 straight home games, 19 at Yost plus the Big Chill at the Big House. The last home loss was to Notre Dame on Nov. 12, 2010.
