Michigan and Ohio State played for the 111th game of the series between the two CCHA squads. Michigan's all-time record against the Buckeyes now stands at 68-32-11.
Senior forward Chris Brown extended his point streak to two games with two points (1g,1a).
With his goal, sophomore defenseman Mac Bennett now leads all U-M defensemen with three goals on the season. He is tied with partner Greg Pateryn for the team lead in points among defensemen 10.
Bennett led the Wolverines with five shots on goal.
All five starters (A.J. Treais, Phil Di Giuseppe, Chris Brown, Mac Bennett and Greg Pateryn) managed to keep their plus-minus positive, each coming in at +1.
Shawn Hunwick made his 13th straight start and turned aside 31-of-33 shots in his third loss of the season.
Michigan was 0-for-4 with the man-advantage. The Wolverines' penalty kill was perfect, not allowing Ohio State to score during five power-play opportunities. The Wolverines improved their penalty kill percentage to 85 percent (51-of-60).
Despite tonight's loss, U-M has now won 21 of its last 23 home games, with 20 of those wins coming at Yost plus one more at the Big Chill at the Big House.
