With the defeat, Michigan falls to 11-8 overall and 1-5 in Big Ten play. The Wolverines are 1-5 this season outside of Crisler Arena. John Beilein is now 3-4 all-time against Northwestern.
With the loss, Michigan now leads Northwestern in the all-time series 102-56 (96-55*). The Wolverines are 43-34 all-time against the Wildcats in Evanston.
Stu Douglass was 3-for-5 from three-point range. Douglass now has 135 three- pointers in his career and is tied with Glen Rice for seventh place on U-M's career three-point field goal list.
Stu Douglass led the Wolverines with 17 points. It was Douglass' sixth game scoring in double figures this season and was two points off a season high (19 vs. Harvard, Dec. 4).
Darius Morris scored in double figures (16) for the 14th time this season. Morris was 6-of-13 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.
Jordan Morgan and Tim Hardaway Jr. both had seven rebounds in tonight's game. Morgan has held at least a share of the team lead in rebounding in seven games this season.
Darius Morris had a team-high four assists. Morris has held at least a share of the team lead in assists in 18 of Michigan's 19 games this year.
Michigan, which was second in the Big Ten in free throw percentage entering tonight's contest, shot just 8-of-15 (53.3 percent) from the charity stripe.
Michigan held a 38-35 rebounding advantage on Northwestern. It was the eighth time this season the Maize and Blue had a plus-rebounding advantage on its opponent.
Michigan had 13 second-chance points and 30 points in the paint.
U-M shot 39.7 percent from the floor (23-for-58) and was 6-of-21 from three-point range. Michigan now is shooting 43.3 percent from the floor and 33 percent from three-point range this season.
Northwestern's 10 three-pointers are the most by a Michigan opponent this season. Bryant University had 13 three-pointers against the Maize and Blue on Dec. 23.
Michigan, spurred by Stu Douglass' 17 points, had a 22-16 advantage in bench points.
U-M is now 1-4 this season when wearing its blue uniforms. The Wolverines are 0-3 in Big Ten play in blue.
For the sixth straight game, Michigan went with the starting lineup of Darius Morris, Zack Novak, Tim Hardaway Jr., Evan Smotrycz and Jordan Morgan. The Wolverines have used this lineup in all but one game this season.
