TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team earned a seventh-place finish in the white race at the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday (Oct. 16) at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center. The Wolverines posted a one-minute split from their first and fifth runners.

Senior Danielle Tauro (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional HS) paced the Wolverines for the fourth time this season, claiming 21st place with a time of 20:56.1 -- her third consecutive race with a sub 21-minute showing. Former high school teammate, sophomore Jillian Smith (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional HS), was Michigan's second runner across the line, turning in a 34th-place effort with a time of 21:06.5.

Rounding out the Wolverines' five scored runners were sophomore Rebecca Addison (Spring Lake, Mich./Grand Haven HS), sophomore Kaitlyn Patterson (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac HS) and sophomore Lindsey Hilton (Rochester Hills, Mich./Adams HS), who placed 70th, 73rd and 113th, respectively. Addison and Patterson crossed the finish line just two seconds apart; Addison registered a time of 21:33.3, while Patterson clocked 21:35.5. Hilton scored the first team points of her career for the Maize and Blue with a time of 21:56.7.

Michigan will close out the regular-season portion of its 2010 schedule at the annual EMU Fall Classic on Saturday (Oct. 23) in Dexter, Mich. The 5,000-meter race is slated for a 10:30 a.m. start at Hudson Mills Metropark.
