
Four Wolverines Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich.-- University of Michigan men's track and field seniors Brandon Fellows (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island), Kyle Terpak(Riverview, Mich./Riverview) and Lex Williams (Ann Arbor, Mich./Dexter), along with 2009 graduate Dan Harmsen (Rockford, Mich./Rockford), were named to the 2009 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team Monday (July 13).
This season, Fellows, Terpak and Williams were all Academic All-Big Ten selections as well as recipients of the University of Michigan's Athletic Achievement Award.
Fellows was a Big Ten champion in the Distance Medley Relay and was a first team All-Big Ten selection (indoor) in 2009.
Harmsen, a fifth-year senior this past season, was a 2008 Outdoor All-America selection in the 4x400-meter relay. He was also a two-time Big Ten Outdoor champion (400m hurdles, 4x400-meter relay) and was a second team All-Big Ten selection for the outdoor season in 2009.
Terpak set two new career highs against Ohio State on April 11 in both the 100-meter dash (10.72) and 200-meter dash (21.79). Additionally, Terpak was part of the 4x100-meter relay team that finished in first place with a time of 41.02.
Williams was a 2007 Indoor All-American, receiving the honor in the Distance Medley Relay. He is also a two-time Indoor Big Ten champion (2007- Distance Medley Relay, 5,000-meter run) and a 2009 second team All-Big Ten selection (outdoor).
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.
