
Botterman, Wilson Earn Multiple Honors at Awards Banquet

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's gymnastics team celebrated its awards banqueton Wednesday (April 22), presenting the program'syear-end awardsat the Junge Family Champions Center. SophomoresKylee Botterman(New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) and Trish Wilson(Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) each walked away with a pair of awards, with Botterman earning co-Most Valuable Performer honors, Wilson taking home co-10.0 Spirit Club Award accolades and the pair sharing the Coaches' Award.
Splittingthe Most Valuable Performer trophy with Botterman werejunior Sarah Curtis(Reno, Nev./Reno) and senior Tatjana Thuener-Rego(Miami, Fla./The American School). The trio served as Michigan's full-time all-arounders for most of the season, each earning All-Big Ten first team honors. This is the second Most Valuable Performer honor for Curtis and the third for Thuener-Rego, who earned the accolade as a freshman and sophomore.
Botterman and Wilson shared the Coaches' Award, while Wilson split the 10.0 Spirit Club Award with junior Maureen Moody(East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing).
JuniorJordan Sexton(Weddington, N.C./Weddington) earned the Most Improved Gymnast Award after a career year in which she won three individual-event titles, set new career highs and finished runner-up on balance beam at the NCAA South Central Championships. Senior Huneth Lor(Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) picked up the Unsung Hero Award, while junior Jaclyn Kramer(West Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) earned the program's Scholar Athlete Award for posting the team's highest grade-point average.
The program also honored Helen Fairman and John Bacon with special awards of recognition. Fairman was honored by head coach Bev Plocki and theteam for her tireless devotion to the program, while Plocki presented Bacon with a special award of recognition for his outstanding writing and tremendous effortsin promoting theprogram in the area.
