Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
Opening statement ... "From my perspective it wasn't a 6-0 game. It was a game of chances and whose chances were going in and who got the bounces. We haven't been in a game where we've gotten many bounces, but I thought we got the bounces tonight. The first goal was a goal their goalie would never give up. Then Louie [Caporusso's] goal on the power play went in off of their skate. It was one of those games where even though we were getting some chances and getting pucks to the net that were going in, on another night they wouldn't have gone in. They go down and hit the post and we go down and score. It was that kind of a game. I liked our team. I liked our start. But you want to be honest about the outcome. There wasn't that much to choose between the teams."
On defensive zone coverage ... "We were good in our own zone except they still had a few point-blank shots from the slot in that area that's tough to cover and [Bryan Hogan] -- that's where he earned his shutout tonight with three or four point-blank shots, bang, he made the save, he's in position and no rebounds."
On if this was Michigan's most complete game of the season ... "No question. And against a real good opponent. We took the lead, we kept it, we built on it. We didn't give up anything. Our penalty killing and our power play surfaced as factors in the game. Overall it was good."
U-M Junior Goaltender Bryan Hogan
On the confidence he's building after the team scores 10 goals the last two games ... "It gives me confidence, absolutely. In the back of my mind all I think about is how it can turn right around in two seconds. So I have to always be sharp."
On Michigan's defensive zone coverage ... "We're starting to get a little bit more sharp in practice, so it shows in the games for sure. The past is the past and it was a little rough back then. Now we're starting to turn the corner here and look at all the hard work we're doing in practice."
U-M Junior Forward Carl Hagelin
On how beating Minnesota can help build momentum for the team ... "We got a lot of confidence from this win. Two wins in a row is important for us. We haven't had many of those this year. Any time you can play a solid 60-minute game it's good for confidence and we should be able to build off of this and have an even better game tomorrow."
On what made the difference in being able to score six goals tonight ... "I felt like we came out right away and were ready to go. We got the puck deep. We had some good cycles and for once we actually scored on our good chances. We were very efficient around the net."
