Wilson Two-Hitter, Findlay Homer Dump Virginia Tech

Senior Lorilyn Wilson (Salem, Ore./Sprague HS) threw another gem from the U-M pitching circle, tossing a complete game, two-hit shutout for her eighth win of the season. Wilson held the Hokies to just two baserunners, striking out ten batters without allowing a single walk.
Wilson was only half of the contest's heated pitchers' duel, as Virginia Tech ace Angela Tincher fanned 13 and allowed just three hits. One of the allowed hits, however, was a solo home run by junior Samantha Findlay (Lockport, Ill./East HS) in the bottom of the fourth inning; the blast proved to be the game-winner.
Findlay had opened the contest with a first-inning single to third base and, combined with junior Alessandra Giampaolo's (Pasadena, Calif./Polytechnic HS) third-inning double, the two hits would make up the Wolverines' only early-inning offense. Leading off the bottom of the fourth frame, Findlay sent a long bomb over the right-center fence to tally her second home run of the season.
With the U-M advantage in hand, Wilson retired nine straight batters to close out her sixth consecutive win.
The Wolverines loaded up the bases in the sixth when, with one out, senior Rebekah Milian (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc HS) reached on an error by the Hokies' third baseman and Tincher plunked Findlay and senior Tiffany Worthy (Yorba Linda, Calif./Lutheran HS) in consecutive at-bats. The VTU pitcher, however, rung up back-to-back strikeout to end the scoring threat.
The Wolverines will stay on the road for a mid-week doubleheader against Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla. The non-conference games are slated for Wednesday (Feb. 28) at 4 p.m.
