Michigan Head Coach Cheryl Burnett
On Michigan's chance to get back in the game near the end of the first half ... "We were inching our way back into the game and making it very difficult for them to score during that stretch. Unfortunately we ended the first half very poorly. We made about four errors towards the end of the half and Purdue was able to capitalize on them. We got within 10 points before they broke it open at the end of the half. They hit some big shots, as big players do. We were changing defenses and trying to create some things. Our difficulty continues to be getting some outside scoring against the zone. We need to hit a couple of shots that will help open up the inside. We definitely have to improve our outside shooting to draw people out, and then improve our post passing to get the ball inside. We have lot to work on."
On what the team can take away from this game ... "We really felt that Purdue did not have a lot of depth, especially at the post position. We really wanted to power the ball at their posts and try to get them into foul trouble, which we did. When they did sub and got their shooters out of the game, we wanted to make sure we played a little bit of a zone. That's what worked for us in the first half until the poor end to the half. We've got to regroup and be able to hit some outside shots. We have to take our shooting very seriously and we have to put in more reps to hit our rhythm jump shots. We're not passing the basketball and reversing it as well as we need to easily against the zone. We're making it hard on ourselves. Instead of making the easy pass, we over-penetrate quite a bit. Again, we've got a lot to work on."
