FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Junior forward Kevin Porter (Northville, Mich.) of the University of Michigan ice hockey team was named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month for November on Thursday (Nov. 30).
Porter
Porter tallied at least one point in each of U-M's nine games in November, recording a total of eight goals and 10 assists. He had six multi-point games during the stretch. The Wolverines posted a November record of 7-2-0.
In the first weekend of the month, Porter recorded three goals and three assists against Michigan State, including a 2-2-4 output on Nov. 4 that ignited a seven-game winning streak for U-M. He then notched his second career hat trick -- and had the game-winning goal -- in U-M's next contest, vs. Nebraska-Omaha on Nov 10. During Michigan's road sweep of Ferris State on Nov. 17-18, Porter had three assists. In U-M's 2-1 win against MSU on Nov. 21, he scored the first goal and assisted on the game-winner. He capped the month by earning three assists at the College Hockey Showcase (Nov. 24-25) against Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Porter is riding a career-best, 11-game point streak, producing 11-11-22 totals since it began on Oct. 27. It stands as the longest point streak by a Wolverine since Andy Hilbert had points in 16 straight games during the 2000-01 campaign. In the midst of his point streak, Porter has also posted career-best, five-game goal and assists streaks.
The last CCHA Player of the Month from Michigan was Jeff Tambellini in March 2005. T.J. Hensick was also named CCHA Player of the Month in December 2004.
