ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 2-ranked University of Michigan hockey team (2-0, 0-0 B1G) hosts Alaska Anchorage (0-2) for a two-game series at Yost Ice Arena this weekend. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on both Friday (Oct. 9) and Saturday (Oct. 10), with both games streaming on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan opened the season with a home-and-home sweep of Bowling Green, winning 7-2 Friday at Yost Ice Arena before rallying for a 4-3 victory Saturday in Bowling Green.
• The Wolverines remain ranked No. 2 in both the USCHO and USA Hockey polls.
• Head coach Brandon Naurato recorded his 100th career win at Bowling Green on Saturday. A 2009 Michigan graduate and four-year letterwinner, Naurato posted 26 wins in his first season, the most by any first-year head coach in program history, before becoming the first to post back-to-back 20-win campaigns to start a Michigan coaching career. In four seasons at Michigan, Naurato has guided the Wolverines to three Frozen Fours.
• Senior Jayden Perron and junior Michael Hage each notched seven points during the opening weekend to earn Big Ten First and Second Star of the Week honors, respectively. Their seven points were tied for the most in the nation over the weekend.
• Freshman J.P. Hurlbert tallied the first goal of the 2026-27 season for the Wolverines in the first period on Friday. It marked the second consecutive season that a freshman scored Michigan's first goal of the season after Cole McKinney did so in 2025-26.
• Other Wolverines with multiple-point weekends included three defensemen: sophomore Drew Schock with a goal and three assists, freshman Landon DuPont with two assists and sophomore Henry Mews with two assists.
• Jack Ivankovic stopped 38 shots on Saturday to match his career high. Ivankovic previously made 38 saves against Ohio State on Nov. 22, 2025, in an 8-1 win at Yost Ice Arena. He is approaching 1,000 career saves and currently sits at 941.
• Michigan hosts Alaska Anchorage for the first time since 1990. The Wolverines are 3-0-1 in the all-time series, with the most recent meeting coming in October 2009, when No. 3-ranked Michigan earned a 6-1 victory.
• Tickets for this weekend's series can be purchased through MGoBlue.com or secondary-market partner SeatGeek.
