Johnson Earns CCHA Defenseman of the Week Honor

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Sophomore defenseman Jack Johnson (Ann Arbor, Mich.) of the University of Michigan hockey team has been named CCHA Defenseman of the Week, the league announced Monday (Nov. 13).

Johnson garnered the Defenseman of the Week laurel after notching a goal and an assist, and recording a plus/minus rating of +6, during the two-game set against Nebraska-Omaha.
In Fridays (Nov. 10) come-from-behind victory over the Mavericks, the blueliner scored U-Ms insurance goal in the third period, and, along with partner Matt Hunwick (Sterling Heights, Mich.), recorded a +4 rating. The following night (Nov. 11), Johnson helped Michigan to its first series sweep of the season, adding an assist and a +2 rating to his statistics against UNO.Earlier this season, Johnson was tabbed as CCHA Defenseman of the Week (Oct. 16, 2006) after a stellar opening to the 2006-07 campaign. He previously won a CCHA Rookie of the Week award (Oct. 10, 2005) and CCHA Defenseman of the Week award (Oct. 17, 2005).
The No. 8-ranked Wolverines continue CCHA play with their first road weekend series at Ferris State (Nov. 17-18). Both games are slated to start at 7:05 pm.
