ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's golf coach Andrew Sapp announced that junior Brian Schielke (Dexter, Mich./Dexter HS) has been selected as an additional player to his roster after the fall tryout period. Schielke gives the Wovlerines 12 members on the roster.
Schielke, who is in his third year at Michigan, is enrolled in the School of Engineering pursuing a mechanical engineering degree. During his prep career at Dexter, he was a three-year varsity letterwiner and two-time all-conference selection (2001, '02) and received the 2001 Conference Sportsmanship Award. Schielke, who was a two-time team MVP and team co-captain (2001, '02), helped Dexter to the 2002 conference championship and the 2002 Dexter Invitational team title. He was a four-year honor roll student and Scholar Athlete and was the vice president of the National Honor Society as a senior.
After Michigan earned a third-place team finish in the opening tournament at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate, the Maize and Blue will host its next tournament with the Wolverine Intercollegiate, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24-25, at the U-M Golf Course, where Schielke will look to play his first collegiate event.
