McCullough Makes Academic All-District Second Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Graduated senior Amy McCullough (West Bloomfield, Mich./Mercy HS) of the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team was one of 10 student-athletes selected to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV second team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and announced today (Friday, May 27).

McCullough finished her four-year career as one of the most decorated swimmers in Michigan history, collecting five NCAA All-America awards and seven All-America honorable mention accolades. She was the Big Ten Conference champion in the 100-yard freestyle in 2004 and swam on five conference championship relay teams. McCullough is a part of three school-record relays: 200-yard freestyle (1:29.56), 800-yard freestyle (7:07.40) and 400-yard medley relay (3:37.96).
Outside the pool, McCullough earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in each of the past three seasons and is one of seven student-athletes in U-M history to be named an Academic All-American by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America twice in her career. She also collected the U-M Athletic Academic Achievement award all four years.
McCullough and the Wolverines finished the 2004-05 campaign with a fourth place finish at the Big Ten Championships (474 points) and a 14th-place showing at the NCAA Championships (84 points). Michigan compiled a dual meet record of 4-2, including a 3-1 mark in the conference.
