ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Fifth-year senior Elise Ray (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) of the University of Michigan women's gymnastics team was named NCAA Northeast Regional Gymnast of the Year Saturday (April 9), giving her back-to-back regional gymnast of the year honors.

Ray was voted Big Ten Conference co-Gymnast of the Year at the Big Ten Championships and won the all-around competition at the conference meet for the fifth Big Ten title of her career. Ray has won six individual titles at regionals (prior to Saturday's South Central Regional at Nebraska) and is an 11-time All-American and the defending NCAA uneven bars champion.

Penn State head coach Steve Shephard earned regional coach of the year honors and Nittany Lions assistant Jessica Bastardi was voted regional assistant coach of the year. New Hampshire's Carrie Kimball was named regional administrator of the year.
