Nichols Earns Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Award

NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Michigan men's golfer Dave Nichols (Mesa, Ariz./Rochester Adams, Mich.), a junior on the Wolverines 2002-03 team, was named a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America this past May at the 2003 GCAA Division I Award Dinner.

Nichols, an Academic All-Big Ten Conference honoree, played in all 12 tournaments during the 2002-03 season and averaged a team-leading 75.97 strokes per round. He finished as the top Wolverine in five tournaments and fired 30 of 37 rounds below 80 strokes. He shot a career-best 69 in the first round of the Wolverine Invitational (Oct. 5-6), tallied a career-best 216 54-hole tournament total at the Landfall Tradition (Nov. 1-3) and tied for 27th at the Big Ten Conference Championships with a 299 total (76-72-78-73).
