Michigan Shut Out by No. 13-Ranked Minnesota on Road

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team was unable to upend No. 13-ranked Minnesota, losing 7-0 Friday night (March 28) at the Baseline Tennis Center. The Wolverines (5-8, 0-3 Big Ten) lost a close doubles point and were swept in all six singles matches by the Golden Gophers (12-3, 3-1 Big Ten).
The lone bright spot on the night for Michigan came in doubles action as sophomores Vinny Gossain (Okemos, Mich./Okemos HS) and David Anving (Tvaaker, Sweden/Varbergs Gymnasieskola) teamed at No. 3 for a 9-7 victory over Chris Wettegel and Aleksey Zharinov. The win improves Gossain and Anving's dual match season record to 2-0.
The Wolverines will conclude the weekend road trip on Sunday (March 30) when they face Iowa in Iowa City. The match is slated to start at 11 a.m. CST at UI's Recreation Building.
