Q U O T E S
U-M Head Coach Marcia Pankratz
On why maintaining a high intensity level was important today ... "I think it is important right after a big win against Michigan State to not have a big letdown. It's hard. You have to prepare for the NCAA Tournament when you have to play back-to-back and keep up the intensity and play sharp back-to-back in a big weekend. So, we were trying to work on that today."
On Beth Riley ... "She's playing great. That's why she's playing, shutout ball. You go with what works. We're not surprised. She was the top recruit in the country and we were trying to bring her in because of that ability. That's why she is here. She's tall, has a great presence is very, very smart and that is evident."
On April Fronzonis legacy at Michigan ... "I think her speed has made her incredibly dangerous over the years. She's able to finish. She brings another whole element and dynamic to our play with her speed and dangerous play. I'm proud of her. I'm happy for her. She's not even on the corner unit and to be able to have the all-time points record at U-M is quite a feat. She'll be the first to say that it's really the support of the whole team that makes the individuals shine."
On the irony of Mary (Callam) Brandes being at todays game ... "I'd never met her before today. We had talked on the phone a couple times and she told me she was coming out months ago. We had chatted and thought it would have been kind of neat if it happened at the Hofstra game, so it worked out that way. She's really proud of April and excited that her record had held on so long. We're glad to have the alums come back and be proud of the program. It's fun."
Senior April Fronzoni
On being tied for first place on Michigan's career goal list ... "I'm just the same old April Fronzoni. I'm just part of the Michigan field hockey team. There is no difference."
On feeling proud when looking back at this record after she graduates ... "I wanted to leave my mark on the program. Coming back and looking at it then I think it will mean more to me than it does right now because it's not that big of a deal to me."
On meeting Mary (Callam) Brandes ... "It was awesome to meet her. It was so weird that she said she just planned to come this weekend. It was a great honor to be able to meet her and for her to be here at this game."

Michigan has won 13 of its last 14 games, including a season-high nine straight.
U-M won black bands on the left shoulder of its uniforms with the number "18" on it, commemorating former U-M field hockey player Rachael (Geisthardt) Townsend (1992-95), who passed away suddenly at the age of 29 after completing last weekend's Chicago Marathon. The team also held a moment of silence prior to the start of the match.
The Wolverines have allowed just three goals in their last eight games.
Beth Riley made her 10th start of the season and improved her record to 11-0. Riley has not allowed a goal in the last 266:29 of playing time, spanning five games.
April Fronzoni scored four points with her two goals, moving her school-record career point total to 145.
Fronzoni 64 career markers equal Mary Callam's school record of 64, set from 1976-79.
