Q U O T E S
Head Coach Ron Warhurst
On the race ... "We were 19th going in and we came out eighth, so we're smiling right now. We ran very well. This season we haven't been able to put five together, but today that's what we did here. Our first five guys ran really well for us."
On the team's attitude going into the race ... "Everybody was really relaxed going into the race. Last night you could tell that we were really relaxed. No one was tight or nervous. We just had the right mindset to go out and do well. Running 10,000 meters, 30 minutes, makes it a head game and you can't let your mindset change when you're running. We just had to stay confident and relaxed because we had nothing to prove."
On the pace of the championship course ... "The course had a good rhythm. Our guys were flying; through 8,000 meters most of our guys were going faster than their pace when we ran here at the Pre-Nationals."
On the efforts of Nate Brannen and Nick Willis ... "They ran like they have all year. I thought if we could put two guys in the top 30 and then two more in the first 100 then we could be a top-12 team, but we did better. Nate was 22nd and Willis was 28th and the rest of the guys put together great races. The first 30 are All-Americans and that's what those two guys were all year."
On the strong finishes of Midwestern teams ... "A lot of teams from our region placed well. Wisconsin was second, Eastern Michigan third, Central Michigan right behind us. It shows that when you run against top competition like we have all season, it makes you prepared to do well in races like this one."
