Jackson Reaches Quarters at Milwaukee Tennis Classic

MIILWAUKEE, Wis. -- University of Michigan sophomore men's tennis player Anthony Jackson (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet HS) completed a stellar weekend by reaching the quarterfinals of 2002 Milwaukee Tennis Classic held Jan. 9-13 at six different tennis complexes in the greater Milwaukee area. Jackson lost a hard-fought three-setter to No. 39-ranked Jevgenij Cariov of DePaul (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) in the quarterfinals.
Jackson reached the quarterfinals by posting three consecutive victories. He earned a first-round win over Western Michigan's Erik Lindroos (6-3, 6-1), battled back from a set down to defeat Memphis' Lee Taylor Walker (5-7, 6-3, 6-4) and tallied a straight-set win over Kentucky's Johan Grunditz (7-6, 6-4) before suffering the defeat to Cariov.
Jackson heads into the season-opening dual match with DePaul on Saturday (Jan. 19, 1 p.m.) with an 8-10 overall singles record.
