Michigan Upset by Iowa in Conference Road Action

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team had its four-match winning streak snapped Easter Sunday (April 15), losing 5-2 against Iowa at the Klotz Tennis Courts. The Wolverines (10-8, 4-4 Big Ten) were swept by the Hawkeyes (11-8, 3-5 Big Ten) in doubles competition and proceeded to lose four of the six singles matches in the loss.
Michigan received its team points at the No. 3 and No. 5 singles spots, with juniors Danny McCain (Largo, Fla./Canterbury School) and Greg Novak (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Cardinal Newman HS) gaining the victories. McCain won his fifth straight singles match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Petar Mandic at No. 3. Novak became the second Wolverine to reach the 20-win plateau (20-17 record) this season with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Hunter Skogman at the No. 5 spot.
The Wolverines look to rebound next weekend with a pair of home matches to close the regular season. Michigan hosts Indiana Saturday (April 21, noon) and Purdue Sunday (April 22, noon) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
