Wolverines Fall Short at ITA All-American Prequalifying

Senior Ben Cox (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake HS) came within a win of advancing to the qualifying round but suffered a 7-5, 6-2 loss to Baylor's Zoltan Papp. Cox posted a 2-1 tournament record, defeating Florida Atlantic's Sandro Spotti (6-1, 7-6; 8-6 in tie-breaker) and came from behind to defeat Scott Schnugg of Georgia Tech (3-6, 6-3, 6-2).
Sophomore Anthony Jackson (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet HS) and freshman Matt Lockin (Lilburn, Ga./North Dakota Independent Study) teamed in doubles competition to tally a 2-1 mark. They suffered an 8-3 third-round loss to Memphis' Michael LaHaie and Richard Magney after winning a pair of impressive matches in the first two rounds. In singles action, Jackson and Lockin tallied 1-1 records and lost in the second round of pre-qualifying competition.
