Novak Leads Wolverines at Tom Fallon Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team began fall competition this past weekend (Sept. 27-29) at the Tom Fallon Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame. Senior co-captain Greg Novak (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Cardinal Newman HS) led the Wolverines, tallying five wins at the tournament, while junior Jeremy Edelson (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North HS) picked up four victories.
Novak posted an impressive 3-2 singles mark and teamed with sophomore Brett Baudinet (Auckland, New Zealand/King's College) (1-1) and Edelson (1-0) in doubles action. Novak capped the weekend by beating 76th-ranked Javier Taborga of Notre Dame, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (10-7).
Edelson pulled through with an impressive 3-2 singles mark, with senior Ben Cox (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake HS) starting his final campaign with a 2-1 singles record. Freshman Matt Lockin (Lilburn, Ga./North Dakota Independent Study) began his collegiate career with a pair of singles victories.
Michigan will travel to the Stone Mountain, Ga., to compete in pre-qualifying action at the ITA All-American Championships slated for Oct. 5-8.
