Logan Falls to Lightner at the NWCA All-Star Classic

A late replacement for Clarion's Mark Angel, Logan did not find out to until Saturday night (Feb. 5) that he was competing in Monday's competition. "I wish I had more time to prepare for this match, but I didn't want to miss out competing with all these guys," Logan said.
Logan battled back-and-forth with Lightner, to whom Logan lost in the NCAA quarterfinals last season, until the Oklahoma wrestler scored a takedown two minutes into the first period.
The action was similar in the second and third periods, with both competitors wrestling strategically. Lightner got the upper hand with a second takedown at 3:57, leading to his 7-3 victory.
Michigan's Otto Olson (Everett, Wash./Everett HS) was selected to wrestle at the Classic, but was unable to compete because of his season-ending knee surgery. Joe Warren (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Kentwood HS) was an alternate at 133.
Logan and the Wolverines will host a pair of Big Ten Conference opponents this weekend at Cliff Keen Arena, meeting second-ranked Minnesota on Friday (Feb. 11) at 7 p.m. and facing No. 23 Indiana on Saturday (Feb. 12) at 7 p.m.
