Michigan Posts 7-0 Victory Against Eastern Michigan

Michigan jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match behind a strong doubles performance. Senior Matt Wright (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate HS) and sophomore Danny McCain (Largo, Fla./Canterbury School) posted an 8-4 victory over Jason Yue and Rob Harrigan at the No. 1 spot. Senior co-captains John Long (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS) and Brad McFarlane (Kingston, Ontario/Bayridge Secondary HS) followed with an 8-3 victory over Hunter Stenzel and Mike Adanti at the No. 2 spot. The freshman duo of Zach Held (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central HS) and Chris Rolf (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) tallied an 8-1 win over Eastern Michigan's Kory Gernhofer and Adam Williams at the No. 3 spot, collecting their first collegiate dual match win.
Resting its top two singles players (Wright and Long), the Wolverines pulled through with victories at all six spots in the singles lineup. McCain, Henry Beam (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix HS), Ben Cox (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake HS) and Ron Nano (Great Neck, N.Y./South HS) continued their stellar singles play with straight-set wins at the No. 1 through No. 4 spots, respectively. Held and and fellow freshman Chris Shaya (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Saddlebrook Academy-Fla.) made their dual match debuts, winning straight-set contests at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots in the lineup.
Michigan returns to the court at San Diego State on Wednesday, March 1, beginning at 1 p.m. PST.

-- Ben Cox claimed his 35th career singles victory with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Eastern Michigan's Kory Gernhofer at the No. 3 spot in the lineup (35-12 career record).
