Blue Gymnasts Edge Maize in U-M Women's Intrasquad

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's gymnastics team kicked off its 2000-01 campaign with the annual Maize and Blue Intrasquad Meet on Saturday (Dec. 16) at Cliff Keen Arena. The Blue squad overtook the Maize team by a final score of 191.525-190.700.
The Maize team had the all-around winner in Janessa Grieco (Mahopac, N.Y./Carmel HS) with a score of 38.950. Grieco had the highest score of the night with a 9.925 on the balance beam. Grieco won the all-around by 0.025, over Blue team member Bridget Knaeble (New Hope, Minn./Totino-Grace HS). Knaeble won the uneven bars (9.90) and was runner-up in the floor exercise (9.775).
Rounding out the top five spots in the all-around were Jodie Rosenberg (West Bloomfield, Mich./West Bloomfield HS) for the Blue team (38.525), Cami Singer (Monument, Colo./Lewis Palmer HS) of the Blue team (38.275) and Karina Senior (Markham, Ontario/Milliken Mills HS) of the Maize team (38.225). Rosenberg won the floor exercise, posting a mark of 9.825, while Christine Michaud (Mill Valley, Calif./The Branson School) took the top spot on the vault for the Maize with a score of 9.725.
Michigan will open its regular season on Saturday (Jan. 6) at the Super Six Challenge in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at 6 p.m. CST.
