Wright and McCain defeated No. 1 seeded Dumitru Caradima and Shuon Madden of Texas A&M in three sets (7-5, 5-7, 6-1). Caradima and Madden have held the No. 1 spot in the ITA rankings since last February, when they won the Rolex National Indoor doubles title. The Michigan tandem, which reached the main draw doubles field by winning a match in the qualifier, was eliminated from the tournament on Friday (Sept. 24), falling 6-3, 6-1 to Auburn's Steve Huss and Tiago Ruffoni in the second round.
In singles action, Wright posted a 1-1 record in the main draw on Thursday. He opened with an impressive straight-sets victory over Auburn's Ruffoni (6-3, 6-4) in the first round. Wright, ranked No. 71 in the ITA singles rankings, took on No. 8 seed Daniel Anderson of Virginia Commonwealth in the second round (ranked No. 16 in the country).
